Last updated October 24, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Course Mark collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Course Mark is run by Good Cheer Tech Studio in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada ("Course Mark", "we", "us"). We follow Canada's privacy law for businesses, PIPEDA, and Quebec's Law 25 where it applies.

The person responsible for privacy at Course Mark is Kayla Walters, who you can reach at support@coursemark.co.

1. Who this covers

When a creator sells a course, the creator decides how they use their students' and buyers' information. Course Mark stores and handles that information on the creator's behalf, to run their course. Questions about how a creator uses your information are best sent to that creator.

2. What we collect, and why

InformationWhy we need it
Creators: email address, login records, when the account was created and which version of the terms was agreed toTo create your account, email you login links, and keep a record of your agreement
Creators: course drafts, including lesson text, your course password, sales page, brand settings (business name, support email, logo, colours) and uploaded imagesSo you can build your course from any device, and so buyers can be sent their access
Creators: your connected Stripe account's ID and statusTo send your buyers to your own Stripe checkout. Your bank and identity details are held by Stripe, not us
Creators: your purchase of Course Mark and any add-ons (email address, what you bought, when, the amount, the Stripe checkout reference, and which of our pages sent you to the Buy page, if one did, such as our bootcamp page)To create your account, switch on what you paid for, handle refunds and keep a record of the purchase
Published courses: sales pages, locked lessons and, if you choose, a marketplace listingTo show your course and your sales page to the public
Creators: your custom domain, if you connect one, and whether it's workingTo show your courses at that address. We add the domain to our hosting provider (Netlify), and the security certificate for it lists the domain name publicly, as it does for any secure website
Students: email address, lessons completed, and first and last visit datesSo progress follows students to any device, and so creators can see who's enrolled in the Students tab
Students: lesson questions, community posts and replies, reactions (like Helpful), the first name you choose to show, and when you postedTo show your posts to the creator and other students in that course. Your email isn't shown to anyone; posts and reactions are linked to it only as a one-way scrambled code so the page can mark your own. The creator gets an email copy of each new question
Buyers: email address, what was bought, amounts and the Stripe checkout referenceTo email access details and a receipt, tell the creator about the sale, and show it in their Students tab
Everyone we email: the subject line of each email we send you, when we sent it, and whether it was delivered (not the message itself)So we can help when an email doesn't arrive
Creators: questions you send us with the Help button, and notes we make while helping youTo answer you, and to keep track of what we've already tried
Everyone: email addresses and IP addresses, stored only as one-way scrambled codes (hashes) for up to an hourTo limit login emails and stop people guessing access codes

Card details go straight to Stripe. Course Mark never sees or stores them.

No tracking. We don't use analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We don't sell personal information, and we don't send marketing emails without your consent.

Stored in your browser. The course builder keeps your login and a safety copy of your drafts in your browser's storage. A course's student page remembers your email and course password in your browser if you tick "Keep me logged in". Logging out clears them.

3. Who helps us run Course Mark

We share information only with the service providers that run Course Mark, and only what each one needs:

These providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it can be subject to local laws. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people or Course Mark from fraud or harm.

4. How long we keep it

5. How we protect it

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Login links and sessions are stored in scrambled form, and login links expire after 15 minutes. Published lessons are locked with the course password in the creator's browser before they're sent to us. Only you can open your drafts through Course Mark; we access them only to run the service, help you when you ask, or meet a legal obligation.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to support@coursemark.co. We'll reply within 30 days. Students and buyers can also ask the creator of their course, since the creator decides how their course's information is used.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or the Commission d'accès à l'information if you're in Quebec.

7. Children

Creators must be at least the age of majority where they live (19 in Newfoundland and Labrador). Course Mark isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

8. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change, and email creators about important changes before they take effect.
