Terms of Service
Last updated October 24, 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you, a course creator using Course Mark, and Good Cheer Tech Studio, the business in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada that runs Course Mark at coursemark.co ("Course Mark", "we", "us").
Course Mark lets you build an online course and a sales page, publish them on coursemark.co, and sell the course. By creating an account or using Course Mark, you agree to these terms. If you're using Course Mark for a business, you agree on behalf of that business.
Your students and buyers don't agree to these terms. Your relationship with them is yours, under your own policies (see section 6).
2. Your account
- Getting an account. You get an account by buying Course Mark at coursemark.co/buy. We email you a link to create it, using the email address you paid with. We sometimes give out access codes instead, for example as a gift or through a program. Codes are for you only. Don't share or resell them.
- Logging in. We email you a login link instead of using a password. Anyone who can read your email can log in to your account, so keep your email account secure.
- Accurate details. Use an email address you check. We use it for login links, sale notifications and important notices about your account.
- One person, one account. Your account is for you (or your business). You're responsible for everything done through it.
- You must be at least the age of majority where you live (19 in Newfoundland and Labrador) to create an account.
3. Your content
You own your courses. Your lessons, sales page, images and everything else you add stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy, display and deliver that content only as needed to run Course Mark for you: saving your drafts, publishing your pages, and showing your course to students. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups kept for a limited time.
You're responsible for what you publish. You confirm that:
- you have the rights to everything you upload or link to, including photos, music and videos;
- your course and sales page are accurate and don't make claims you can't back up (see section 5);
- you'll respond to complaints about your content, such as copyright claims.
What's public and what isn't.
- Your sales page is public. Anyone with the link can see it.
- Your published lessons are locked with your course password before they reach our servers, so only people with the password can read them.
- Photos you upload are stored at long, hard-to-guess links but aren't password protected.
- Videos are only as private as the service hosting them (for example, YouTube Unlisted).
- Your unpublished drafts, including lesson text and your course password, are stored on our servers so you can work from any device. Only your login gives access to them through Course Mark. We may access them only to run the service, help you when you ask, or meet a legal obligation.
- Lesson questions and Community. If you switch on questions for a course (included with every account), or the Community page (the Community add-on), students who have the course password can post questions, replies and other posts, and react to posts. Everyone with access to that course can read them; posts show the first name each student chooses, never their email.
- Marketplace. If you choose to list a course on the Course Mark marketplace (coursemark.co/courses), its title, cover image, your business name, price and short description appear there, linking to your sales page. Listing is optional and off unless you turn it on; turn it off and publish again to remove it. We may remove or decline any listing, for example one that breaks these terms.
- Custom domains. With the Custom domain add-on, you can show your courses on a web address you own or control, like learn.yourbusiness.com. You're responsible for the domain itself: registering and renewing it, and adding the DNS record we ask for. To connect it, we add your domain to our hosting provider and request a security certificate for it, so your domain name appears in public certificate records, as it does for any secure website. If the domain stops pointing to us, your courses stay available at their coursemark.co addresses. We may stop serving a domain that breaks these terms.
4. Selling and payments
You are the seller. When someone buys your course, they're buying from you, not from Course Mark. You set your prices, add-ons and refund policy, and you're responsible for delivering what you sell.
Stripe processes payments. Course Mark's built-in checkout uses Stripe Connect. To use it, you connect your own Stripe account, and Stripe's terms apply between you and Stripe, including the Stripe Services Agreement and the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Stripe, not Course Mark, verifies your identity, holds your money and pays you out.
- Payments go straight to your Stripe account. We never hold your money.
- Card details go only to Stripe. Course Mark never sees or stores them.
- Stripe charges you its processing fees directly.
- You can also sell with your own Stripe Payment Link instead of the built-in checkout.
Course Mark's fee. Course Mark takes no fee from your sales today. If that changes, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before a fee applies, and it will never apply to sales made before then.
Buying Course Mark and its add-ons. Course Mark and its add-ons (the Community add-on and the Custom domain add-on) are bought from Course Mark itself, for a one-time price shown before you pay, in Canadian dollars plus any tax. Stripe processes these payments for us. Course Mark and each add-on cover every course on the account that bought them, for as long as that account is open and the add-on is offered.
14-day refunds. If Course Mark or an add-on isn't right for you, email us within 14 days of buying it for a full refund. When we refund an add-on, we switch it off. When we refund Course Mark itself, we close the account and unpublish its courses, so download a backup of anything you want to keep first.
Refunds, disputes and chargebacks are yours. You handle refunds from your Stripe account. Refunds and chargebacks come out of your Stripe balance. Refunding a buyer doesn't automatically remove their access to your course; change your course password if you need to.
Taxes are yours. You're responsible for charging, collecting and reporting any sales tax, GST/HST or other taxes on your sales, and for any receipts or invoices your tax rules require.
5. What you can't sell or do
You agree not to use Course Mark to sell or publish:
- anything on Stripe's list of restricted businesses, which applies to every course sold through the built-in checkout;
- "get rich quick" offers, or income or results claims you can't back up (for example, "make $10,000 a month"). Stripe may review or close accounts that sell these;
- content that's illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or privacy;
- courses or pages meant to mislead buyers, including fake testimonials or reviews.
You also agree not to misuse Course Mark: no attempts to break into other accounts or courses, overload the service, send spam, or get around payments, access codes or course passwords.
Fair use. Your one-time payment covers as many courses as you reasonably need for your own business. It isn't meant for building or hosting courses for other people or businesses, such as clients. If an account's use goes far beyond what a typical creator needs (for example, a very large number of published courses or unusually heavy traffic), we'll contact you to talk about options before we change anything.
What we can do. If we believe content or an account breaks these terms or puts buyers at risk, we can take a course offline, remove content, or suspend the account. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
6. Your buyers and students
- Your own policies. Tell buyers your refund policy and how to reach you. We recommend putting both on your sales page.
- Emails we send for you. When someone buys through the built-in checkout, Course Mark emails them their course link, password and receipt in your name, with replies going to your support email. We also email you about each sale.
- Add-ons. You deliver any add-ons you sell (like a coaching call) yourself.
- Your community. You're responsible for your course's questions and community: reading what's posted, answering, and deleting anything that breaks these terms or the law. Course Mark doesn't review posts, but we may remove posts or switch a community off if we're told about harmful or illegal content. Students' posts belong to them; they give you and Course Mark permission to show them in your course.
- Support. Your buyers come to you with questions about your course. Course Mark supports you, not your buyers directly.
- Shared passwords. All your students use one course password. If it's shared without your permission, change it and publish again. The Students tab shows who has paid, to help you spot this.
- Student information. You'll see your students' emails and progress. Use them only to run your course and as your privacy policy and the law allow, including Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) for any marketing emails.
7. Privacy and data
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, what we store and why, and which service providers help us run Course Mark.
8. The legal basics
Availability. We work to keep Course Mark running, but it's provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable or change. Keep your own copies of your content; the builder's Save backup lets you download each course.
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. For important changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using Course Mark after that, the new terms apply.
Ending your account. You can stop using Course Mark at any time. Ask us to close your account and we'll delete your drafts and unpublish your courses within 30 days. We may close accounts that break these terms (section 5). Taking a course offline doesn't refund anyone; that's between you and your buyers.
Limits on our responsibility. To the extent the law allows, Course Mark isn't liable for lost profits, lost sales or indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid Course Mark in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that the law says can't be limited.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of Newfoundland and Labrador and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
