Refund a buyer

Refunds happen in your Stripe dashboard. Course Mark doesn't take anyone's access away on its own, so you decide.

  1. Refund the payment in Stripe

In your Stripe dashboard, open Payments (or Transactions), find the buyer's payment and click Refund. You can refund all of it or part of it.

  2. Decide about their access

A refund doesn't remove course access. Students open your course with its password, so the buyer can still get in until you change it. For most refunds, that's fine.

  3. Locking someone out (optional)

Change the password in Publish, step 1, and publish again. Everyone then needs the new password, so send it to your other students: Resend access on your dashboard's Students page emails each one the course link and the new password. Students can also use Forgot it? on your course's login page.

Good to know

  • Refunded buyers stay on your Students list as Paid. Their sale stays in your records too.
  • Stripe usually keeps its fee on a refunded payment.
  • Disputes and chargebacks are handled in your Stripe dashboard.
